Graduate Assistant Revives Horse Judging Team

Jodie Smith does not shy away from a good challenge. While serving as a graduate assistant for the department, she was assigned to head up recruiting efforts, assist the agribusiness professors where needed, coordinate Ag Ambassador activities, assist with alumni activities, and assist in the main office on a daily basis. In addition to all this, she chose to accept the responsibility of coaching and leading the SHSU Horse Judging Team to the AQHA World Show in Oklahoma City. Team members were Lori Rich, Keisha Alstedt, Robert Smith, and sister, Jamie Smith. Last spring, Jodie trained more troops for the Intercollegiate Spring Sweepstakes in Fort Worth, sponsored by the American Paint Horse Association. This team consisted of Wes Paben, Shannon Clinard, Leslie Thiele, Randee Gentz, and Jamie Smith. While competing with students from the top equine programs across the country, team members gained valuable experience in horse judging and public speaking.

Jodie graduated with her master's degree in December and accepted a position as Field Representative with Farm Bureau. We know they got a good one.
