Delta Tau Alpha Prepares for National Convention

The Sam Houston State University chapter of Delta Tau Alpha inducted sixteen new members last fall. Chapter officers have planned a year full of events. The chapter held a golf tournament last fall at the Country Campus golf course to raise funds to help them get to the national convention. The chapter is also planning to hold both a garage sale and a book sale this spring to defray some of their convention expenses. In April, members will have the opportunity to attend the National DTA Convention, held this year in Nashville, Tennessee. In order to be eligible, each member interested in going must have regular meeting attendance and participate in chapter fundraisers. At the convention, members will participate in a variety of competitive events, run for national office, and enjoy an agricultural tour of the region as well as a trip to the Grand Old Opry.

The chapter continues to host "Late Night with the Ag Department". This event gives agriculture students the opportunity to attend study and review sessions and obtain some final assistance from their professors just prior to final exams.

Officers for this year include: Walter Hambrick, President; Brett LaCoste, Vice President; Stephanie Smaistrla, Secretary; Chad Thonsgaard, Treasurer; Ashlea Conner, Reporter; and Jodi Beason, Historian. Dr. Pat Bagley serves as the chapter advisor.
