Collegiate FFA Chapter is Service-Oriented

The Collegiate FFA Chapter sponsored the Ice Cream Social at the beginning of the fall semester to encourage new students to meet with the "more experienced" students along with members of the faculty and staff. Mr. Bobby Baker with Blue Bell Ice Cream was responsible for the ice cream served at the event.

Chapter members staffed the concession stand once again at the SHSU NIRA Collegiate Rodeo to raise funds to offset their expenses in attending the National FFA Convention. There, they assisted with the National FFA Ag Issues Contest and provided staffing for the Agricultural Consortium of Texas recruiting booth.

Members also hosted the Annual Halloween Bash, a fun event held at the Walker County Fairgrounds attended by over 200 students from the department. Collegiate FFA members also hosted and/or served as judges at three Leadership Development Events (LDE) for the Texas FFA Organization. On December 2, the CFFA hosted the 61st State FFA LDE at the Lowman Student Center on the SHSU campus.

Brian Gregg (Crosby) is serving as the current President of the CFFA. The Vice Presidents are Michelle Swanson (Lake Jackson), Hollie Malone (Barbers Hill), Shannon Clinard (Anderson), Leslie Thiele (Clifton), and Tony Goodman (Houston). Serving on the CFFA advisors committee are Cindy Swanner (Spring), Leah Wright (Houston), Cody Wilcoxson (Edgewood), and Wade Lee (Cuero). Representatives to the Ag Council are Mitzi Smith (Liberty) and Megan Stevens (Spring). The advisor for the CFFA is Dr. Doug Ullrich.
